Idea Peddler is looking for an experienced publicist who is proficient in strategizing and executing accounts on behalf of clients.

About You:

You have had the taste of agency life but want to work in a smaller team environment to gain more autonomy and grow quickly. You're excited to work at a shop that has high-growth forecasts for the next year and want to go there with us. Our clients range from tourism destinations to state-run departments of health to consumer-packaged goods, so the ability to change gears quickly is key. Most critically, you have a great attitude and a sense of adventure.

About the Role:

You will work with, and report to, the Associate Director, PR and Social Media to go above and beyond for our clients. You will immerse yourself in their businesses, operating in their best interest. You will serve as an advocate for clients acting as a steward of their brand and consistently finding new ways to incorporate them into the organic media landscape.

Qualities needed:

  • Minimum of a BA/BS degree and 3-5 years prior agency experience.
  • Obsessed with detail and flawless execution of projects.
  • Ability to multi-task and work across multiple accounts and pivot quickly in a changing business landscape.
  • A firm understanding of the media landscape.
  • Ability to distill client expectations and desires into actionable PR initiatives.
  • Proven history managing client relations and developing strategies; serve as the first point of contact for client concerns and issues, escalating and involving senior leaders as needed.
  • Proactively pitch media, ideating creative pitch angles, and creating opportunities to insert clients into cultural conversation with a proven track record of delivering high-quality PR stories in print, online, and broadcast.
  • Experience executing and facilitating FAM/influencer trips, media meals, and events.
  • Is confident in securing placements on behalf of a variety of clients including expert positioning, brand pieces, and other meaningful media.
  • Holds strong relationships within industry contacts and clients.
  • Possesses a strong command of their writing and editing skills
  • Ability to assess client needs and work with senior leadership to identify growth opportunities within client services.

Skills that are a plus:

  • Experience with travel/tourism, government, and/or public education campaigns.
  • Knowledge of New Mexico, Texas, and California markets.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in public relations and social media tools including Muck Rack, Critical Mention, Cision, and more.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
