Who we are looking for: An experienced publicist and social media strategist who is proficient in planning and executing campaigns on behalf of clients. Has had the taste of agency life but wants to work in a smaller team environment to gain more autonomy and grow quickly. Is excited to work at a shop that has high-growth forecasts for the next year and wants to go there with us. Our clients range from tourism destinations to state-run departments of health to consumer-packaged goods, so the ability to change gears quickly is key. Most critically, has a great attitude and a sense of adventure.

About the job: You will report to the Chief Operating Officer and work with our Account team to go above and beyond for our clients. You will immerse yourself in their businesses, operating in their best interest. You will learn their opportunities and challenges and cast a vision for PR and social that is unique and critical for each client in their category and also aligns with the realities and interests of publications, writers, creators, and consumers. You will be the client’s trusted advisor in the fields of PR and social. You will prepare and lead PR and social deliverables with excitement, clarity, honesty, and conviction. You will be proactive, bringing clients relevant and forward-thinking opportunities. You will be proactive and take the lead on planning and execution, as well as accompanying deliverables and timelines. You will be passionate about every detail from start to finish. You will showcase and celebrate the work through ongoing communication and reporting. You will bring a fresh perspective to the team and push to elevate the work product, while helping create and implement systems to grow and develop your department. You will be viewed as the leader of the PR and social team, establishing yourself as a guide and a mentor.

Qualities needed:

  • Minimum of a BA/BS degree and 6+ years prior agency experience.
  • Obsessed with detail and flawless execution of projects possessing a keen eye that will oversee all client and consumer-facing deliverables from the team.
  • A passionate and patient mindset that is able to manage multiple projects and teams while working well under tight timelines while communicating client goals, vision, and values to teams.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the PR and social media landscape, ideally in the travel and tourism industry.
  • Track record of securing local and national coverage on behalf of clients and brands, ideally in the travel and tourism industry.
  • Ability to distill client expectations and desires into strategic and actionable PR and social media initiatives.
  • Proven history managing client relations and developing strategies; serve as the first point of contact for PR and social media needs.
  • Excellent people leader capable of directing, coaching, and supporting, an outstanding team. Manage and delegate responsibilities to junior staff of daily workflow of accounts while driving consistent results.
  • Proactively pitch media, ideating creative pitch angles, and create opportunities to insert clients into cultural conversation with a proven track record of delivering high-quality PR stories in print, online, and broadcast.
  • Experience executing and facilitating FAM/influencer trips, media meals, and events.
  • Oversee team to create, curate and manage social media content, including text, audio, visual and multimedia formats.
  • Monitor PR and social media trends, including developments in design, applications, strategy, and innovation to stay relevant and effective.
  • Create comprehensive PR and social media plans to boost brand image, increase customer engagement, and improve awareness.
  • Oversee the design, implementation and management of social campaigns integrated into the company’s strategic marketing plans.
  • Track PR and social media key performance metrics to maximize results and report progress to clients.
  • Holds strong relationships within industry contacts and clients.
  • Possesses a strong command of their writing and editing skills including the ability to coach and edit direct reports’ work.
  • Ability to assess client needs and work with senior leadership to identify growth opportunities within client services.

Skills that are a plus:

  • Experience with travel/tourism, government, and/or public education campaigns.
  • Knowledge of New Mexico, Texas, and California markets.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in public relations and social media tools including Muck Rack, Critical Mention, Cision, Sprout, and more.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Figma and Canva experience a plus.
